Groomers Corner

The Northern Kettle Moraine Nordic Ski Club was established 27 years ago with the primary mission of creating consistently high quality skiing on the 13.5 mile Greenbush ski trail system. We have accomplished this mission over time by skier memberships and donations which have been used to purchase and maintain grooming equipment which is operated by a dedicated group of volunteers. It takes about 3 hours for 1 pass on our trail system and 2 passes are required for the width of the trails. Many snowfalls require packing the snow followed by grooming and setting tracks. This equates to a huge volunteer effort to keep conditions up to our skiers’ standards. We are so thankful for our recently retired head groomer Jeff Welsch for creating the standards that we all come to expect at Greenbush. Our group of 7 volunteer groomers are ready to step in and do their best to “fill Jeff’s shoes”! Please be courteous of their efforts when you see them on the trails and move off the trail when they come through. The groomers have blind spots in the equipment they operate so it is best not to follow too closely on that fresh corduroy.

Thanks to our trail groomers

Groomers-2

The NKMNSC was the recent recipient of two pieces of equipment from the City of Sheboygan Parks and Rec Department! We are thrilled to add in a 2013 Tidd Tech G2 groomer and track setter and a 2015 Ski-Doo Skandic SWT 900 snowmobile. These will be a great addition to our fleet. Many thanks to Joe Kerlin, Steve Scharrer and Tom Werner for the coordination of this donation!
