The Greenbush Trails
We call this unique area "Nordic Heaven". Greenbush Ski Area is situated in the heart of the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest. A mix of hardwoods, evergreens and birch trees along with beautiful panoramic views create a unique winter sports destination for family's and sports enthusiasts.
Greenbush has long been known for its "Micro-Climate" which produces and holds snow throughout the winter season. Our great trails, designed for the beginner to advanced skier, are also well known. More than 25 k of trails are groomed by the Northern Kettle Moraine Nordic Ski Club for both classic and skating techniques. The Ice Age and inner system loop single track trails provide for some of the most spectacular snowshoeing in the upper Midwest. The inner system loops also provide a spectacular fat tire bike ride that many consider a fun winter challenge. New for the 2023/24 season is planned grooming for the inner loop system provided in cooperation with the DNR by the Sheboygan County Cycling group.
The trail head features a heated log shelter with picnic tables and a changing room. Bring a lunch and stay for the day. Enjoy the sledding hill or, on a bright sunny day hang out on the deck and catch some rays.
We have over 2 k of lighted trails. Come out and experience night-time skiing in Nordic Heaven. Join our Ski Club or participate in one of the many winter events we host. "Greenbush Nordic Heaven" is a beautiful location you will keep coming back to. We hope to see you on the trails!

More About Our Trails
The Greenbush Trail is an off-road biking, hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country ski trail system. Two trail systems: 4 loops of challenging mountain bike/snowshoeing trails totaling 9 miles and 5 loops of skiing trails totaling 13.5 miles.
If you're looking for a longer, moderate workout, the 5.1 mile purple trail is your best bet. This trail will provide views of Bear Lake and runs through the Bear Lake Marsh. An open Kettle can also be found on your journey.
The green trail is a fun, challenging, very hilly trail, running 3.6 miles. The green trail runs in the center of the forest. The open Kettle mentioned above can also be observed on the green trail.
The moderate red trail runs 1.5 miles, next to the Ice Age Trail, near the Greenbush picnic area. The Pink trail with a distance of 7/10 of a mile, also located in the vicinity of the picnic area, offers an exciting, sweeping downhill.
Your easiest selection would be the brown trail that runs 1.2 mile with rolling terrain. This is the fully lit trail that surrounds the picnic shelter.
The BLACK trail is a Classic Only 1.5 mile trail, offering beautiful, wooded solitude over a moderately challenging trail.

The Trail entrance is located on Kettle Moraine Drive, 2.5 miles north of Highway 67. A heated picnic shelter with a changing room, indoor and outdoor tables, a grill and a fire pit can be found at the trailhead. State forest pit toilets are beside the parking lot. The Greenbush Campground, located adjacent to the trail system, has nine sites, available by reservation only April through November. A state park sticker is required. In addition to the state park sticker, a trail pass is required for anyone 16 or older skiing or biking on Greenbush trails.
